Perspective continued

I am writing my dissertation on perspective. I have included James Turrell,  an Artist of light and space.

"my idea of 'sensuous' involves those things that put you in touch with your senses"
In the Criss-Corner Projections, the shapes can either look three-dimensional or two-dimensional, this is dependent upon the way humans see. (***** Olafur-'Rainbow')
James J.Gibson, a perceptual psychologist, explains that the disparity between the different visual arrays that enter the eyes contains information the viewer can use to perceive the external world, "if a binocular system can  register the disparity, it can register information about the environmental layout". Turrell's projections work in this way, they contain information about the external world.
He highlights, for illusion (magic) to be seen, it is up to the viewer. What the viewer perceives through his eye. We all have our own eyes, we all see a different water droplet, a different rainbow. (Referring back to Olafur Eliasson)

Another idea bubble I have wandering through my mind, in fact blatant in my mind is TIME.

Onwards in to my research of Turrell:

The concept of time, like in the art of Andy Warhol created expressions of a specific period, but what was more important for Turrell was the expression of time that "transcends any specific period". Turrell created experiences using highly technical processes that mirror the modern world, Adcock adds "a fact that, for me, already implied a certain timelessness.". When you think of a current civilization, you think of the progression of the material aspects, Turrell thought that the true expressions of our time are "those aspects of our mathematics, and our art, which are not about devices or things, but are expressions of pure thought".  Turrell deliberately creates art with no image because he wants to connect us to a thought that is "wordless", with no "story line". Finding significance in silence of the mind, "its an area of thought that has a kind of loneliness, but also a great beauty".
And so, Time and Perspective is what I will leave for you to ponder up on. I must go write some more Dissertation. I will get this concluded.

Rainbows, Antonia
